Life in the Fast Lane

Life in the Fast Lane -
I just recently moved from small town MN to the big city. I am a student at FIT loving the fact that everyday I am learning something new, and expanding my knowledge when it comes to the industry. As an aspiring PR girl I am determined to gain as much experience as I can. Living in one of the fashion capitols of the world I am truly inspired by anyone and everyone I see. I have never met so many creative, free-willed, and ambitious people. Everything about this environment is so motivating to me, and just proves there is no doubts when it comes to my dreams. Starting my journey in NYC is a dream come true, and I want to share my experiences with everyone. You'll have to bare with me when it comes to my pictures, the iPhone is all I have until my birthday (fingers crossed a new camera is coming soon).

This past week in NY the designers of DePloy demi-couture, Mien Kielo, Francoise Elizee, For Helen Love Paris, Fig&Bella, and PONO by Joan Goodman have showcased their upcoming 2013 spring collection. Bringing to us beautiful assortments of figure flattering pieces that flow with the body. Along with bright, crisp, clean colors that will instantly transform a winter wardrobe.

Dresses continue to be an essential when it comes to the warm weather. As the layers start to come off it is time to embrace the New Years resolution and show off those killer arms! As we can see Katherine will have no problem with that.

Introducing their first season, Mien Keilo is sure to capture the spring 2013 trend of dynamic designs and prints. For Helen Love Paris also captured this with their silky tops made of recycled designer clothing.

British designers of DePloy demi-couture introduced a collection focusing on versatility. Women are able to go from a jacket, to a dress, to a skirt, to a crop top instantly with the snaps of buttons. Wearing this collection women will be able to embrace their femininity while incorporating the perfect amount of sexy.

Of course we can't forget the best way to complete any look, accessories! If you're looking for the best way to stand out take my advice and remember Fig&Bella, PONO, and Francoise Elizee.

Rain or shine these essential light weight hand dyed, printed, and woven scarves by Fig&Bella are the perfect way to accessorize any look. Offering a wide variety Katherine was able to add a gorgeous pop of color to her look by choosing the red cashmere style.

California Rock

Something I love about NY is how people aren't afraid to express their own personal style. I was with my sister, cousins, and aunt at this cute little place called The Grey Dog (recommend trying it if you are ever in NY). I caught eye of this outfit in line (not to mention her gorgeous California beach hair, so jealous!) and had to ask right away for some pictures. She gave off that simple rocker vibe with black skinnies, cheetah ankle boots, and if you take a close look you can see tucked into her back pocket was a studded leather jacket. What I liked the most was that it wasn't to over the top, and by adding the printed boots she totally completed the entire outfit. Try to picture it with plain black ankle boots, it would have totally changed everything!

Since being in NY I've noticed a trend of layering your wrist with all kinds of bracelets, watches and wearing multiple rings. You can never have to much accessories, and if you ever need a little color this is the perfect solution. Just be careful when transitioning into fall. This isn't something that would work the best over long sleeves.

It's All About The Shoe

It is that time of year again when layering and comfort is a must! Adding a vest whether it be denim, leather, or fur can change up an entire look. Megan (friend from work/school) completed hers by mixing the textures of a Free People printed sweater, and a TopShop leather shirt vest. Which ideally added that little bit of extra edge to her overall look.

Of course the best is saved for last. Check out these AMAZING Sam Edelman Petty Roccia flat booties from the Fall 2012 collection available anywhere from Saks, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Shopbop, Urban, and even Amazon. I am literally obsessed! These are the perfect transition for fall, and best way to make a killer statement to any look!

Sport-ista

Spotted this look when walking through Chelsea. I love the fact that it is casual, but still well put together. Leggings will be popular again come the cold weather, and the best way to dress them up is by adding a comfortable blazer. Don't forget to finish off with the with the perfect shoes.

I found a similar style by Isabel Marant.

I have been noticing these wedge sneakers around the city. I like how they add a little athletic edge to complete a look, and still allow for that height every girl wants without the pain of heels! Sporty looks seemed to be a trend on the NY Runways, and Donna Karan was one of the many designers to preview this in her DKNY RTW Spring 2013 collection. Take a look!

Dolce & Gabbana

I was sitting on campus today, and from afar my eye caught this amazing floral print!

I didn't even realize how truly beautiful it was until I got up close to ask for a picture. Look at that detailing, so gorgeous! I love the fact that she kept the look from being to wintery by pairing the jacket with black high waisted shorts, and she kept the look fierce with the slick back pony. Which ideally is the perfect way to keep full attention on the blazer.

You must check out Dolce & Gabbana Fall Winter 2013 Collection! It is STUNNING!

For my first street style I decided to show off my own look of the day. As you all know fall is right around the corner, so I am slowly trying to convert my look to fit the new season. Unfortunately it is still to warm for sweaters, but this top I found at an antique store in WI last winter (yes, I am not lying!) is a perfect transition. My favorite thing to do when I am picking out an outfit is accessorize, and my latest obsession is gold jewelry. You can see how my simple outfit of shorts and a light blouse can be transformed with a statement necklace (Anthropologie) and a new pair of shoes (Urbanoutfitters)!
